1. University of Ghana Medical School
This is one of the best medical schools in Ghana that just celebrated its 60 Years of Quality Medical Education. One of the beauties of this college is that they introduced necessary technology to their school, which has massively helped to lecture their students.
The School of Medicine and Dentistry completely focuses on the clinical school where they offer two programmes which include: Medicine (Regular and GEMP) and Dentistry.
Their Medical school has 7 departments, which include; Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Child Health, Surgery, Medicine & Therapeutics, Radiology, Psychiatry, and Anaesthesia.
2. Family Health University College
This is one of the premier private medical schools in Ghana that had a humble beginning, the school started in a garage at 51 Guggisberg Street, Korle Bu in 1997 then it grew bigger to start using a rented premise at Zoti Road as Family Health Hospital. And, they have grown from then to be accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), to be given a University College status, and now they are known as Family Health University College.
The school provides a 6-year Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine (MBChB) Programme. Within the first 3 years, the student will gain a Bachelor of Science Degree, and the remaining 3 years will be focused on acquiring the MBChB degree which now qualifies him/her as a medical doctor.
They also provide a graduate medical programme and Revision Course for Foreign Trained Medical Doctors.
3. The Accra College of Medicine
This is one of the top medical schools in Ghana that was established to provide cutting-edge medical education in the country. Their Medical programme takes 6 years to complete.
In the first 3 years, you’ll be focusing on pre-clinical where you’ll learn the basic science that you need to become a qualified doctor, and they use a pass-fail grading system within this period. Also, they provide both MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery) and Mphil. Infection and Immunity, making them one of the top medical universities in Ghana.
5. the University of Health and Allied Sciences
This is one of the best medical schools in Ghana that is known for its excellence in providing the proper education to its students. And not only do they encourage students to be academically competent, but they also promote sports which some of the students came home with a bronze from the just-ended 27th Ghana University Sports Association Games.
The school of Medicine has 11 departments with 2 core programmes, which are;
