Their undergraduate scholarship was founded based on the critical component of their education intervention programme for their host communities in 1998 and was opened up to the rest of Nigeria in 2003.

How Much is the NLNG Undergraduate Scholarship
The NLNG Undergraduate Scholarship is worth ₦150,000 per year, and awardees have been increased from 150 per year to 300, giving more students opportunities for the award. And has been awarded to almost 3,500 undergraduate students in different tertiary institutions, and there ₦768.9m has been invested in this scholarship since its inception.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to meet some criteria which are;
- Applicants need to have excellent O-level results.
- The JAMB score of the applicant needs to be excellent.
- Applicants should be at their 100 level in a university in Nigeria.
